Leadership & Delivery
How I lead and deliver in complex cloud environments.
Technical capability is most valuable when paired with clear delivery, strong stakeholder relationships and consistent values. This page covers my approach to planning, team leadership and working effectively in government cloud environments.

Delivery
Agile Delivery and Work Package Planning
Context
Large platform initiatives can become difficult to manage if deliverables are not broken into clear, achievable work packages with defined outcomes.
Approach
I organise project deliverables into manageable packages and break them down into achievable sprint-level tasks. Using Agile delivery principles, I prioritise work based on stakeholder requirements, monitor progress through iterative sprints and review KPIs regularly to support timely adjustments.
Value
This provides delivery transparency, supports incremental progress and gives stakeholders regular evidence of value through demonstrable outcomes.
Delivery
Backlog Prioritisation and Incremental Value Delivery
Context
Cloud and platform initiatives often involve competing priorities, limited capacity and changing stakeholder expectations.
Approach
In consultation with key stakeholders and within the broader project objectives, I prioritise backlog items based on value, impact, urgency and delivery feasibility. I maintain regular communication with product owners and stakeholders to ensure prioritisation remains aligned with evolving needs.
Value
This enables the team to focus on the highest-value work first, deliver incremental outcomes and maintain alignment between delivery effort and business priorities.
Stakeholder Leadership
Strategic Stakeholder Engagement
Context
Platform initiatives involve multiple stakeholder groups, including service custodians, technical owners, platform administrators, vendors, development teams and delivery teams.
Approach
I tailor engagement and communication strategies to each stakeholder group, considering their responsibilities, concerns and required level of involvement. This includes selecting suitable communication channels, setting appropriate engagement frequency and ensuring critical information is shared clearly and proactively.
Value
This keeps stakeholders informed, empowered and aligned, while reducing ambiguity and improving the organisation's ability to resolve issues collaboratively.
Team Leadership
Inclusive Leadership and Team Empowerment
Context
Cloud platform teams operate in complex environments where technical delivery, operational pressure and stakeholder expectations need to be balanced carefully.
Approach
I prioritise inclusive leadership practices by delegating responsibility, encouraging open dialogue and creating space for diverse perspectives. This helps team members take ownership of their work while contributing to a culture of trust, accountability and continuous learning.
Value
This approach strengthens collaboration, builds confidence across the team and supports innovation in dynamic environments where adaptability and resilience are essential.
Team Leadership
Role Modelling Best Practice and Team Culture
Context
Strong platform teams rely not only on technical standards, but also on trust, shared responsibility and a positive team environment.
Approach
I provide opportunities for team members to take responsibility for their areas while regularly reviewing practices and supporting improvement. I also participate in team initiatives, social activities and volunteering opportunities that strengthen connection and inclusion.
Value
This contributes to a supportive and cohesive work environment where people feel valued, connected and accountable for the quality of their work.
Continuous Improvement
Continuous Improvement and Emerging Practices
Context
Cloud platforms and delivery practices evolve quickly, requiring teams to continuously review and improve how they work.
Approach
I proactively explore emerging techniques and encourage team members to assess how new practices can improve the quality, reliability and efficiency of deliverables. I focus on practical adoption, demonstrating how new methods can be integrated into existing workflows without unnecessary disruption.
Value
This fosters a culture of learning and innovation while keeping team practices current, adaptive and aligned with organisational priorities.
Values & Accountability
Reliability, Accountability and APS Values
Context
Government technology roles require reliability, professionalism and a strong commitment to public-sector values.
Approach
In my role at Geoscience Australia, I have consistently demonstrated reliability, dependability and active participation across team activities, projects and operational responsibilities. I maintain open communication and support workflow continuity across BAU and project delivery.
Value
This supports team productivity, strengthens trust and contributes to a positive, inclusive and values-aligned working environment.
